The First Day

  • Consider if you would like to have a friend with you the first day.
  • Let your friends, neighbors, family members know a new person will be starting to work for you.
  • Go about normal routines.
  • Don’t minimize your needs, it sets a bad example of non performance.
  • Be as organized as possible.
  • Determine your method of having the PA buy groceries such as having cash available or whether you will pay them back after they make the purchases.
  • Remind the PA of your need for receipts for store purchases.
  • Get your schedule straightened out for housekeeping, appointments, discuss feedback opportunities.
  • Start out being direct about what you need done.
  • Tell the PA at the end of the day the things that they did well.
