Interviewing

Screening Over the Phone

Ask some key questions on the phone that are your bottom line. Let them give you some information about themselves first. Then decide how much depth you feel comfortable to go into regarding your job.

Describe your hiring process. It will give you some structure and feedback regarding the persons ability or willingness to follow through. The process will help you see if they can get things done in a timely manner and take directions. You will get more opportunities to interact with the applicant and again, another opportunity to get more of an idea of their personality.

Negotiate a meeting place. This will give you some information on their flexibility and understanding of your personal need for privacy, protection and safety. A reasonable person will be able to understand this and put themselves in your place.

In Person Interview

Check them out. Do they look neat and clean and presentable. Do they seem comfortable around you. Do you feel comfortable around them. Find out as much as you can about the person. You will be making a decision to hire someone based on only a few contacts. Your safety and stability depend on the potential PA being able to function optimally on the job.
