Making Choices / Back UpKeep in mind during your interviewing process that you may want to keep names and numbers for possible back - up if the person you hire doesn't work out or if they need time off. Record KeepingHave some kind of filing system to help you keep information on applicants. This could be useful if one of your applicants does not work out. It would also be helpful if you are paying any taxes for them at the end of the year. Reference CheckingBe sure to verify applicant's information for accuracy. Call educational institutions. Look at their driver's license and check the picture and date of birth. ConfidentialityBefore you hire a person let them know what things you want kept confidential. As with any relationship it takes time to learn a person's trustworthiness. You might find it best to not discuss very personal issues until you know them better. If this Personal Assistant is going to live-in, clear boundaries need to be set regarding each other's needs for privacy when using the phone, having company, or handing financial, family and social information. If the PA's is living in, it is necessary to have mutual respect for each others rooms and personal belongings.
