Sources of Funds
To Pay for PAS
In Washington State, the Department of Social and Health Services has several programs
to assist with Personal Assistance. The Aging and Adult Services programs are:
- COPES
- CHORE
- Medicaid Personal Care
They are located in the phone of each city under Washington State. The specific unit
that works with these programs is
Aging and Adult Services.
The representative does an assessment of your capabilities and determines whether you are
eligible for services. Services are based on financial need.
If you are denied services and feel it is wrong you have the right to an appeal. The
agency is required to provide you with the necessary information to file an appeal.
Other sources of funds may be available depending on your situation:
Division of Vocational Rehabilitation on a limited basis if you are already a client, to
support you in a vocational objective.
- Department of Labor and Industries, if you are a client.
- Veterans Administration, if you are a veteran.
- Private Insurance, each insurance program is different.
